Ken Burns
Documentary filmmaker known for long-form, archive-driven histories of American life, including The Civil War, Baseball, Jazz, The Vietnam War, and, most recently, The American Revolution. His signature technique of panning and zooming across still photographs — licensed by Apple in 2002 as the ‘Ken Burns effect’ — became the standard for animating archival images on screen.
