Tabitha Syrett
British podcast producer and broadcaster. Co-host of The Book Club alongside Dominic Sandbrook, and previously the producer of The Rest Is History, which she took over in 2023 — overseeing its live shows and the series that won Apple Podcasts Global Show of the Year.
Syrett came to presenting from the production side of Goalhanger’s history slate, and the pairing is deliberate: Sandbrook supplies the historical context in which a novel was written, while Syrett reads as a reader — what the book is like to sit with, where its interest holds and where it slackens. On Brave New World she is the host who defends Huxley’s diagnosis of the present, against Sandbrook’s resistance to it. On My Brilliant Friend she is the one who reads Lila’s dissociative episodes as evidence that the brilliant friend is in fact the fragile one, and who states the episode’s firmest opinion — that writers should be free to write what they have not lived.
