Sean Carroll
Theoretical physicist at Johns Hopkins University and host of the Mindscape podcast, which covers science, philosophy, and ideas at the frontier of each. Carroll is one of the most prominent popularisers of physics working today and a serious research physicist simultaneously.
Carroll’s research focuses on foundational questions in physics: the interpretation of quantum mechanics (he is among the most visible defenders of the many-worlds interpretation), cosmology (dark energy, entropy and the arrow of time, quantum gravity), and black hole physics. He is the author of Something Deeply Hidden (many-worlds quantum mechanics), From Eternity to Here (entropy and time), and The Biggest Ideas in the Universe series. His precommitment to naturalism — the view that the natural world is all that exists — is explicit and runs through how he frames philosophical questions on the podcast.
