Peter Steinberger is a software engineer and entrepreneur. He spent 13 years building PSPDFKit, a PDF rendering library used on a billion devices, then sold the company and took three years away from programming. He returned to build OpenClaw (originally named after the Anthropic model, renamed after a conflict), an open-source AI agent that reached 175,000+ GitHub stars and is described as the fastest-growing repository in GitHub history. OpenClaw gives a personal AI agent ambient access to a user’s computer via WhatsApp, Telegram, or other messaging clients. Steinberger describes his practice as ‘agentic engineering’ — he calls ‘vibe coding’ a slur.
