Mihika Kapoor

Mihika Kapoor is a design-engineering-PM hybrid at Figma. She was an early PM on FigJam and led the development of Figma Slides, launched at Config 2024. She was the most-mentioned answer when Lenny Rachitsky asked on Twitter: “Who’s the best PM you’ve worked with?”

She majored in CS and minored in visual arts at Princeton. Before Figma she was in Meta’s Rotational PM programme. She founded Design Nation, a national nonprofit democratising design education for college students (speakers have included Joe Gebbia and Stuart Weitzman).

Key ideas

  • Vision as pain-solution-proof-point: the pitch format that works alternates pain, solution, and proof point rather than sequencing them.
  • Democratic meetings: FigJam’s insight that brainstorms are the most successful meeting format because they are structurally democratic. All meetings can be redesigned on this principle.
  • Keeper of the flame: the zero-to-one PM’s job is to stoke the embers of an idea that will die without active protection.
  • Optimism bordering on delusion: zero-to-one pitches fail multiple times before they succeed. Translating “no” into “not yet” is the operative skill.
  • Staging creates investment: multi-month dogfooding of rough products builds internal champions because people feel they shaped the product.
