Jay Baxter

Founding ML Engineer and Researcher for Community Notes at X/Twitter. Baxter designed the bridging-based agreement algorithm — the core mechanism that identifies notes rated helpful by contributors who normally disagree with each other — as an entry in an internal Twitter contest in 2020. The algorithm overturned the prevailing assumption that public fact-checking required ground-truth labels from professional fact-checkers, deriving quality signals entirely from the structure of contributor disagreement. All algorithmic code is open source.
