Itamar Gilad
Itamar Gilad is a product coach, author, and speaker. Formerly a product manager at Google for ~10 years (Gmail, identity, YouTube). Author of Evidence-Guided: Creating High-Impact Products in the Face of Uncertainty (2023). PM lead on the Gmail tabbed inbox (now used by 1.8B users) and was part of the Google+ effort (shut down 2019) — the two experiences that formed his evidence-guided philosophy. Based in Israel.
Key ideas
- GIST framework: Goals, Ideas, Steps, Tasks — a meta-framework for evidence-guided product development integrating lean startup, design thinking, agile, and growth.
- Confidence meter: a tiered calibration tool for ICE’s confidence dimension; ranges from 0 (self-conviction) to 10 (AB test).
- Outcome roadmaps: commit to goals by date, not features; release roadmaps pre-commit solutions and suppress discovery.
- Time to outcomes, not time to production: the correct metric for evidence-guided teams is how fast they get the right bits to production, not how fast they ship anything.
