Co-founder and general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), one of the world’s largest venture capital firms with over $46 billion in committed capital. Investors include OpenAI, Cursor, Andrel, Databricks, Figma, Waymo, and Flow (Adam Neumann). Former co-founder and CEO of Opsware (originally LoudCloud), which went public in March 2001 with $2M in trailing 12-month revenue and was eventually acquired by HP for $1.6B. Wrote the seminal “Good Product Manager, Bad Product Manager” memo during his time at Netscape (published later as a blog post). Author of The Hard Thing About Hard Things (2014) and What You Do Is Who You Are (2019). Runs the Paid in Full organisation. Close collaborator with Shaka Senghor. Early career included starting a rap group.
